With a computer (PC) controlled Ring Shear Tester RST-01.pc, RST-XS, or RST-XS.s, and the software RST-CONTROL 95 several types of powder tests can be performed automatically, e.g. flowability tests, measurement of yield loci, wall friction tests, time consolidation tests, compressibility tests, and attrition tests.
RST-CONTROL 95 works similar to an experience-based fuzzy-logic control in order to perform a test in the optimal way although different bulk solids are showing different properties.
RST-CONTROL 95 in combination with a Ring Shear Tester RST-01.pc, RST-XS, or RST-XS.s covers the full range from the "normal"user, who needs test results, but does not wish to study the whole background of the bulk solids flow theory, to the bulk solid specialist, who intends to run tests at precisely defined conditions.
RST-CONTROL 95 provides several modes of operation, e.g. so-called standard test procedures for each type of test listed above, where the test parameters like the consolidation stress are entered once, and subsequently the operator just has to choose the "standard test" option from the program menu. After a few mouseclicks the test starts! More experienced users can use a detailed procedure for entering the test parameters, or can load these parameters from a control file library. Thus, the Ring Shear Tester can be used for many applications, and it can be operated from personnel of different levels of education.
For special applications also a semiautomatic test mode is provided. At the semiautomatic mode the operator observes the measured data on the screen and controls the test via the PC keyboard.
RST-CONTROL makes possible to regard the measured yield loci or wall yield loci on the computer screen immediately after a test is finished, printing the test results or saving the results on disk. Additionally, further evaluation of the test results with the evaluation software RSV 95 is possible.
RST-CONTROL 95 uses many of the the capabilities of the Microsoft Windows operating system, e.g. printing on network printers is possible. RST-CONTROL 95 shows the test results (e.g. yield loci, wall yield loci) on the screen directly after a test is finished, and also during the test preliminary results are presented. If desired, the test results can be evaluated further with the evaluation software RSV 95 v3, which is implemented in RST-CONTROL 95.
Compared to the former version RST-CONTROL for MS-DOS*, the version RST-CONTROL 95 for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10* contains improved some functions and additional features. Besides the typical functionality of programs for MS Windows* including an acoustic user guide system with speech output, the user has the possibility to modify the display and output of test data according to his preferences. For example, now it is possible to work with stresses at the whole operation, i.e. to enter test parameters as stresses (normal stresses), to regard stresses on the screen during the test (shear stresses), and to output the test results as stresses. Additionally, the algorithms for controlling the test, e.g. the slip-stick-detection system, have been optimized. Dependent on the bulk solid tested, this leads to a decrease of the time requred for a test.

RST-CONTROL 95 can be used for all computer-controlled ring shear testers built in 1999 and later. There are different versions for the different types of ring shear testers (RST-01.pc, RST-XS, and RST-XS.s).
Required hardware: PC with Microsoft Windows* 7*, 8*, or 10*, screen resolution min. 1024x768, one free serial communication port or USB port. For the acoustic user guide (optional) soundcard and speakers are required.
